RHYTHMS, SEASONS AND CYCLES
BLOG # 25
As women, we are used to monthly cycles in our lives. We understand the rhythm of our bodies and know how to look for signs of monthly physical changes. We know how to go from a size 6 to a size 12 in the same month and from happy and carefree one day to the depths of despair the next.
Changesare written in our physical DNA. It is woven into the very fabric of our lives.God designed us, not just with physical cycles, but with the very essence of our lives to have RHYTHM..….SEASONS……..CYCLES. “To Everything there is a season…” (Ecclesiastes 3). Wise King Solomon penned this theme and a famous singing group sang these lyrics to melody. But much more than lyrics to a beat, these words confirm a rhythm to our life. We all have one and there is a purpose.
TRANSITIONS…..SEASONS…….RHYTHMS of life are inevitable and unavoidable. And like the green leaves of spring turning to the brown leaves of fall, change will surely come. Expect it ~ Guaranteed. Everything is for a season:Every experience….Every disappointment……Every loss…..Every heartache…..Every grief…..Every joy. Some seasons are longer and some are shorter. The good and bad news are that all seasons change. Whatever season you are in today shall surely change. Whether you are in springtime where everything is coming up roses, or like me, in wintertime (at the start of this writing) where barrenness, death and dying are all around. This one thing is SURE ~ ABSOLUTE ~ NO IF, ANDs or BUTs, your current season shall change; Expect it ~Understand it….Accept it….Most importantly, invite the One whose presence makes all the difference in every season.
He is only constant…..the one certainty that will NEVER ~ EVER~ change – GOD. The Most High God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The GOD of yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:7-9) The God who was and is and is to come. (Revelations 4:8)God who was became flesh and dwelt among us – Jesus Christ. (John 1:14)He is God in human flesh who created us and understands the rhythm of our lives.
If you don’t know this Most High God, introduce yourself to Him. His name is Jesus. He is fact and truth not fiction. If you already know about Him, I encourage you to go deeper, and get to know Him personally and intimately.
This truth is not for the faint of heart. It’s not for the impatient or self-sufficient. It’s not for the worldly wise or the strong “I am woman, hear me roar” mentality. Rather, it is for those whose eyes are fixed on God:
“Unto You I lift up my eyes,
O You who dwell in the heavens.
Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters.
As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress,
So our eyes look to the Lord our God
Until He has mercy on us.” Psalm 123
